David E. Williamson has dedicated nearly 40 years of service to the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department, continuing a family legacy that spans four generations. Both of his grandfathers were charter members of GVFD, and his father has proudly served for 70 years. Growing up surrounded by the fire service, David knew from as young as six or seven years old that he wanted to follow in his family’s footsteps.
On November 15, 2026, David will celebrate his 40th anniversary with GVFD. Throughout his career, he has held nearly every officer position within the department and has served as an officer for approximately 30 years. He is currently in his 14th year as Chief, having held the position during multiple terms. His extensive experience includes military service, a career in firefighting, and numerous training certifications. As Chief, his priority is ensuring every member is properly trained, operates safely, and returns home after every call.
For David, the fire department represents family, pride, and camaraderie. He finds the greatest reward in helping others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and believes the department’s responsibility is to make those moments a little better.
Outside of GVFD, David enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing golf, although he admits golf isn't his strongest skill. With his family’s roots in Gaylordsville spanning four generations, he considers it both an honor and a privilege to serve the community he has watched grow from a small farming village into what it is today.

Inspired by his uncle, a longtime firefighter with Water Witch Hose Company #2, John developed an early appreciation for the fire service, its traditions, and the commitment it takes to serve a community.
Over more than two decades with GVFD, John has served in numerous leadership positions, including 2nd Engineer, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, and, since 2021, Captain. His extensive training includes Firefighter I and II, HazMat Operations, pump operations, emergency medical response, cold and swift water rescue, ropes, rapid intervention, fire instruction, leadership and command, and more.
As Captain, John focuses on keeping his team calm, safe, and prepared while helping solve whatever challenges arise on an emergency scene. He values the friendships, shared knowledge, and teamwork that define GVFD and believes the skills learned through the department carry far beyond the firehouse.
Outside of GVFD, John is a husband, father, and Fleet Manager for a New Milford landscaping company. He enjoys spending time with his family, working outdoors, technology, cars, and designing and building just about anything.

Kevin Roman began his journey with the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department at just 14 years old, joining as a junior cadet after being inspired by his older brother. What initially drew him to GVFD was the strong sense of brotherhood, sisterhood, and family within the department, where members look out for one another both inside and outside the firehouse.
Over the years, Kevin has taken on increasing responsibilities, first being elected as 2nd Engineer (Car 6) before working his way through the ranks to his current position as 1st Lieutenant.
In his role as 1st Lieutenant, Kevin oversees training for new members while ensuring existing firefighters continue to develop and strengthen their skills. He believes training is the backbone of a successful fire department, building the teamwork, confidence, and preparation needed for members to work safely and efficiently alongside one another during emergencies.
For Kevin, GVFD is more than a volunteer organization. It is a family built on trust, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to protecting and serving the community.

Ron Stephens has been a member of the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department for more than eight years and currently serves as EMS Lieutenant. His decision to enter the fire service was deeply personal, inspired by the tragic loss of a childhood friend in a house fire.
During his time with GVFD, Ron has also served as Treasury Secretary and has remained focused on one of the department’s most important responsibilities: serving the people of Gaylordsville and New Milford. In his role as EMS Lieutenant, Ron provides oversight of emergency medical care and helps ensure the department is prepared to respond when members of the community need assistance.
For Ron, one of the most rewarding parts of GVFD is working alongside fellow members toward a common purpose. He especially values department traditions such as the Chicken BBQs and Ham Dinners, which bring firefighters, families, neighbors, and the broader community together.
Ron sees volunteering as an opportunity to give back to the community he serves and to be there for others when they need help most. Outside of the firehouse, he enjoys attending NASCAR races, model trains, and horseback riding.
